It is important to remember that Betta Fish despite being astonishing fish to watch are not particularly fast swimmers compared with other aquarium fish. Therefore, you want to avoid tank buddies who are quicker swimmers than your Betta’s who could potentially harass, bite and nip your fish.

Decaying food left in the tank will produce toxic chemicals and harm your fish. Only add as much food as your fish can eat completely in about three minutes twice a day. Fish are meant to be hungry most of the time and if they do not come to the top of the tank as you open the lead to feed them you are giving them too much!

The Rasbora Heteromorpha is a fish from this category. It is similar to the Cyprinidae family, and it is seen in the eastern Sumatra region, Thailand and Malaysia.
